John Andy Bonar Head of Development at Letterkenny IT

John Andy Bonar is Head of Development at Letterkenny IT and holds Institute wide senior management responsibility for Research, Development and Innovation, Internationalisation, Lifelong Learning and Engagement. John Andy is a director of three not for profit Community, Sporting and Citizens Information organisations. He holds a significant number of Regional, Cross-Border and National representational roles on behalf of LYIT and is currently Chair of the Audit Committee of Donegal County Council.

John Andy is a graduate of NUI Galway with B.Comm (Hons) and M.Econ.Sc (Hons) degrees as well as a range of other continuing Professional Development Qualifications. He worked previously for 10 years in the private sector in Management Consulting in Ireland, and the Construction Industry in the UK before joining LYIT 20 years ago. He joined LYIT as Lecturer in Business and was previously Head of School of Business before assuming his current role of Head of Development in 2007.

Patsy Donaghy Manager at CoLab

Mr. Patsy Donaghy is Manager at CoLab the innovation centre, located at the campus of Letterkenny Institute of Technology. He has over 12 years working in the technology and knowledge start up area and was involved in delivering the highly successful CEIM programme run by LYIT and IT Sligo in the North West. The programme created over 70 businesses, generating €12 million in sales. He has deep experience in how to practically assist entrepreneurs through the exchange of academic knowledge and in creating a positive climate for growth.

Patsy is a member of the European BIC and Business Incubation Centres for the NW. He also was a key member of the Gate2Growth incubator forum, a European wide network of incubators. He holds an MSC in Enterprise Development and BBS Hons Degree in Accountancy. Patsy has strong skills in the enterprise support area and an understanding on what technological entrepreneurs need to help them to turn ideas into viable business.
