“As part of the programme we received mentoring on various aspects of running a business and this proved to be very beneficial as we got to speak to people with experience and know-how. There was a lot involved in getting things up and running and to have people available to ask questions and get some advice from was great for us.”
As part of a programme Declan joined at CoLab, he was provided with an office for his fledgling company, Irish Pressings, “this was a great help to us as it was a base from which to start our company. The nature of the automotive industry is that you are pricing work three years in advance so in that first year we spent our time developing a client base of prospective customers, setting up and installing equipment in our premises in Gweedore Business Park. CoLab also put us in touch with other support agencies that we wouldn’t have had access to. To have the office space to work from for that first year was great as it took a lot of pressure off us and allowed us to become more familiar with running a company before having to take on long-term premises.”
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in setting up their own business to get in touch with CoLab as there are so many benefits. It is a great boost for a company to get that bit of a head start when setting up your own company.”
Irish Pressings continues to thrive in difficult economic times and have recently completed projects for such industry leaders as Ford, General Motors, Toyota and BMW.
“We now have over 30 employees and supply tooling and pressed parts to countries such as America, Poland, Portugal, Germany, England and Hungary.”
